Are You Here for the World? How to Stay On Purpose in Challenging Times

We’re all going through a lot of major changes–social, political, economic–and they keep coming! In the midst of what can feel like chaos, leadership is about more than just adapting to the latest trend. It’s about grounding yourself in what truly matters.

So, ask yourself these two big questions to better understand how you and your organization fit into the grand scheme of things:

  • Is the world here for you?

  • Or are you here for the world?

As a leader, your answer to these two big questions will dramatically shape your organization and results. It will reveal whether your organization mainly operates as an entity that takes from the world to fuel its own growth, or views itself as part of a larger ecosystem contributing to the world’s greater good.

Why Your Core Belief Is So Important

This query, in Daniel Quinn’s provocative book Ishmael, divides people into two groups: Leavers and Takers. Leavers believe in living harmoniously with the world, contributing to the larger ecosystem, and acting with a sense of responsibility. Takers, on the other hand, see the world as something to be conquered and controlled, where anything goes.

How Love-Powered Leaders Do It

Love-powered leaders—Amare Way leaders—see themselves as part of something bigger. They act with purpose, knowing that by contributing to the well-being of the world, their organization will thrive in return. They understand that success is about purpose—which can also be highly profitable. This grounding principle creates deep, authentic connections with employees, customers, and partners, and a much more fulfilling workplace.

4 Amare Ways to Stay Grounded in Love-Centered Leadership

1. Align with your higher purpose. Get clear on your higher purpose and regularly revisit it. It’ll serve as your compass when external changes pull you in different directions.

2. Foster harmony with the ecosystem. Recognize that you’re part of a larger system. Your company’s success depends on the well-being of your community, your customers, and the planet.

3. Embrace authentic leadership. Lead with authenticity—be honest about your challenges, your values, and your goals. Transparency creates trust and keeps you grounded in the truth, no matter how chaotic things get.

4. Let purpose lead to profit. Keep your organization focused on your higher purpose, and the profits will follow. When you lead with love and integrity, success isn’t just a byproduct—it’s a natural outcome.

Stay Grounded, Lead with Love

People are naturally drawn to companies with a clear, authentic purpose. When employees, customers, and investors believe in your higher purpose, they show up with passion and commitment. This is a hallmark of Amare Way organizations.

Tune into what keeps you grounded in uncertain times. Take a moment to reflect on your values and purpose, and remind yourself why you’re in business in the first place. Focus on aligning your actions with those core beliefs—especially when things feel chaotic and out of control. This is the best way I know to lead through challenging times with grace and impact.

Resources to Stay Grounded as a Leader

In these shifting times, staying grounded is more important than ever. When you can stay true to your purpose and lead with love, you will inspire your team, customers, and partners. Reach out for more resources to strengthen your leadership foundation and lead with confidence in times of change.
